It's official, it's mosquito season.

Or rather, the mosquitoes seem to believe that it is human season. We can't figure out how they're getting in. We live right across the street from the river and it's rained recently, so they've got plenty of breeding grounds...but we don't know HOW they're getting into the house. (I am, however, willing to bed that it's the bloody upstairs folks leaving windows and doors open and walking their dogs, despite us having all the connecting doors and areas closed. We've checked our windows and doors and they're tight. They're not coming in down here!)

Last night we killed over 80 mosquitoes over the course of a few hours. It's INSANE. They're still chasing us down despite wearing repellent (indeed, I spray down our comforter and our door before we retire for the evening so we can actually sleep). I've even lit several candles on the other side of the room and am wearing light colors. I've applied repellent twice today and still I'm a delicious snack.

I'm allergic to their bites, and even WITH Benadryl in my system I'm getting lumps. One little bloodsucker got my face last night and now I have a bruised bump there.

I've started taking B12 vitamins in hope that it will discourage the bastards - I was even tempted to spray my hubby with floral perfume so they'd go for him rather than me!

Normally, I don't mind living in a rural area...but right now I'm already tired of being smelly and paranoid.

That sounds terrible! >.< I think mosquito nets would presumably be effective at protecting you while you're sleeping. Just make sure none are in your net and you won't get bitten. You could also try citronella candles or lemon grass plants to make them less interested in coming in. But you might also need to use actual pesticides. :(

you could try eating some garlic/ginger/vinegary foods. You smell sweet and delicious, but you can change that with your diet. I've seen it work!

I hear you. Take lots of B vitamins not just 12.
