SSHG Giftfest

(Alright. I truly am terrible and this month has gotten away from me. Between the house-selling and moving and residency appointment and unpacking and the general insanity that has been the past month or so, I sort of turned in Giftfest and then promptly forgot it was happening. Because I am terrible.)

ANYWAYS.

My gift posted and IT IS AMAZING AND PERFECT AND I AM SO SO SO SO HAPPY.

See, I got a mystery gift in the mail. Sender's name was a bit illegible, the packing list smeared with damp. Truly, it was a Mystery.

And my husband, practical man that he is, said no Mystery Packages until Christmas.

And of course, when I did realise my gift had posted on SSHG-Giftfest, and THAT THAT WAS WHAT WAS PROBABLY IN THE MYSTERY PACKAGE I promptly lost my shit and my husband is the best best best best BEST ever because he did this for me.

(Apologies for the delayed response; first I was away for Christmas, then I got a horrible cold.)

Yes, it is very soft. I had a lot of trouble finding the right yarn that was both VERY dark and VERY soft. And part of that was realizing that crochet does not make a soft scarf; yes, I had originally intended to crochet it, because I'm faster at crochet than at loom-knitting. But double knitting on a rectangular loom makes a really soft and thick scarf, so, loom-knit it was (after unravelling all the crochet).

So glad you like the tag. I cannot claim to have made it, alas; I just made the writing on it. Multiple attempts at that, too, while I tried to find a font and font-size that evoked Hermione's writing; you will notice that the writing is on paper which is stuck onto the tag.

As you will have noticed in the SSHG post, it was originally - as per the description in the story - inside a box which was then wrapped and tagged. I did not include the box in the parcel because it would have taken more space, been difficult to post, and the box probably would not have survived the journey. So I just re-wrapped the scarf (with the tag inside), and posted it like that. Fortunately, I delayed posting it a bit (so it would arrive closer to Christmas) and my Sekrit Helper toblass was able to tell me of your change of address before I posted it. But I got all anxious that it wouldn't arrive.

But it did!
